Origins

There maybe two explanations for the origins. Here’s one: The Betts name originates from the Germanic name Betz: as the German tribes moved across Europe, so did names like Betz. It was, of course, later Anglicised to Betts. The Betz came over to England in the 900s AD and it is highly likely that they “assimilated” themselves into the society they found themselves in – so there is plenty of Celt in them.
